Ciñco de Mayo Themed 2nd Birthday Bash

by Lindsay

My baby turned two this weekend. My baby is two years old. Two wonderful, humbling, beautiful years.

In an effort to minimize the number of second birthday parties we had to attend combine efforts and throw one huge bash, we threw a joint “neon” party for Ella and six of her friends in March. It was an absolute blast! But, because there were many friends and family members I decided to spare from two hours with 40 two-year olds (aren’t I benevolent!), I decided we needed to throw a second, more relaxed bash closer to El’s real birthday.

When I spotted these tissue-paper Cinco de Mayo garland on Oh Happy Day! I knew they were perfect for our outdoor bash. And, given my ombre obsession, why not an ombre-meets-Cinco-de-Mayo themed fête? I tricked myself into thinking it would be a easy-to-throw-together gathering (a party-planning malady I suffer from frequently).

Lots and lots of flags.

The celebration ended up being a huge success! The kids enjoyed the lantern piñata. The parents enjoyed the margaritas and enchiladas. We enjoyed celebrating our baby’s second birthday (do you think I need to stop calling her “my baby” at some point?).

Happy Papa!

Party girl!

Ombre Cinco de Mayo tissue paper flags.

Someone got to the cupcake before it was time for candles...

Two.

Going on three.

Priceless.

Not a day over 21.

Love these paper lantern piñatas!

Waiting patiently (is that an oxymoron for two-year olds?)

Piñata aftermath.

What sort of birthday celebrations you do enjoy most? Do you have a favorite family birthday tradition?

OMG the expressions on those kids’ faces in the first picture is priceless! Lovely birthday idea, will have to remember it when Charlie turns 1.

ABsolutely adorable! I heart the ombre cinco de mayo flags, and the number cards are perfection.

I love the way everything came together. What kind of box is that storing the Izzes & Corona? Love it!

The ombre tissue paper flags look great! Where did you get those tin numbers everyone is holding in the pictures?

Great pics! Happy Birthday Ella!

PS
I think I see a Munchkin cup in one of the pics. Nice!
